The Reading Quest – Sign Up

Hey, everyone! I saw this reading quest floating about twitter and the blogosphere and was like, YES MAN SIGN ME UP! So this is a quest/ readathon hosted by Read at Midnight so definitely remember to go and check out the original post.

The quest will take place between Sunday 13th August to Sunday 10th September, 2017. All adventurers are encouraged to register their interest in the sign-up form below, which will be open from now until Sunday 13th August. The Quest is based entirely on a video-game quest. In this challenge, you’ll be embarking on a journey to conquer your TBR pile through a series of stages. You’ll read new stories, gain experience, and level up a character of your choosing.

The Rules…

The basic mechanics of the reading challenge is simple: it’s based on a bingo board (termed The Quest Board for our purposes), each square on the board represents a stage (or reading prompt) you must complete. There is one crucial variation, the path you take on the bingo board is entirely dependent on your chosen Character Class.

p.s shout out to CW of Read, Think, Ponder for the beautiful artwork.

Your character starts off initially with 10 EX points and all the information about the points system can be found on Aentee

So I have decided to follow the MAGE path for the beginning of the quest, which Aentee has described as:

MAGE: As wielders of spells and witchcraft, these players will conjure and summon their way through the First Down path on the quest. Their tomes contain magic and whispers of alternate lands.

Along with the separate Character Class quest levels (Purple Squares), the centre of the Quest Board is a conglomeration of Side Quests (Blue Squares)! I will update you on these side quests as they are happening. Below is the Quest grid.

Reading Quest Board

The TBR:

The first book in a series://: The Sin Collector by Daria Desombre

A book set in a different world://: Caraval by Stephanie Garber

A book based on mythology://: New world fairy tales by Cassandra Parkins

A book that contains magic://: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

A book with a one word title://: Bubblegum by Sari Taurez

Some of these books may change, especially the one for mythology and the one-word title. I’m currently writing this post and thinking of my TBR from memory haha.

So that’s it, let the quest begin and I hope to see you all join in. It’s going to be fun!

Happy Reading Lish x

    1. I’m so excited for it! I’ve never participated in something like this. I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed Caraval, I can’t wait to get to it! Good luck on your quest!

  1. I need to check this out, it sounds really fun! I haven’t played video games in a long time because my little bits of free time are too precious and must be devoted to reading! Thank you for sharing.
